Tourism Australia launches Vietnamese website
July 7, 2010:
Tourism Australia has launched a Vietnamese language official website for customers at www.australia.com, the Australian embassy said on July 6. By the end of March 2010, Australia saw over 37,000 visitors from Vietnam, an encouraging increase of nine percent from the previous year, despite a challenging year including the global financial crisis and A/H1N1 epidemic.

MICE tourists returning to HCM City
July 7, 2010:
Foreign MICE (meeting, incentive, convention, exhibition) tourists have begun returning to Vietnam after one year’s interruption due to the global financial crisis. According to some travel firms, hotels and exhibition centres in HCM City, in the last year, the number of MICE tourists was very modest and some companies had no MICE clients. This yea, however, the situation has been better.

HCM City to develop riverside tours
July 5, 2010:
HCM City plans to offer a new tour to a painting village along the Saigon River in District 2 in September and will also inaugurate the Saigon-Cu Chi-Binh Duong route as part of its plan to develop riverside tourism over the next ten years.

Viet Nam, Thailand ink MICE deal
July 2, 2010:
The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) and the Viet Nam Trade Promotion Department (Viettrade) on June 30 signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on strengthening MICE trade co-operation between the two countries.

RoK, Vietnam sign tourism cooperation
June 28, 2010:
Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on bilateral tourism cooperation in Seoul on June 25. It was signed by Vietnamese Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh and his RoK counterpart Yu In-chon during Mr Anh’s visit to Seoul.

Tourism makes its way to sub-Mekong region
June 28, 2010:
The central province of Quang Tri on June 27 hosted a conference on tourism cooperation with two provinces from Laos and Thailand. The annual event, the sixth of its kind so far, drew Vice Chairman of Quang Tri provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chinh, Deputy Governor of Savannakhet of Laos Suphan Keomisay and Deputy Governor Priasil Sommai of Thailand’s Mukdahan province.

Air France plans direct service to HCMC in November
June 25, 2010:
Air France, a founding member of the global aviation alliance SkyTeam, is working on a plan to resume full non-stop services between Paris and HCMC in November this year. The European carrier plans three weekly services on the HCMC-Paris run, using Boeing 747-400 planes, then Boeing 777-300ER (Extended Range) as part of a new code-share agreement with the newly admitted SkyTeam member Vietnam Airlines.

Art performances lead up to capital’s millennium day
June 25, 2010:
Hanoians will be entertained with a series of cultural and arts performances in early July, 100 days before the capital city is celebrating its millennial founding anniversary. In addition to dance and singing and amateur theatre festivals, 34 outdoor art shows will be held in all the city’s districts and towns to serve local people, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said at a press briefing on June 23.

Tourism industry looks regionally
June 23, 2010:
Festivals in Japan and the Republic of Korea (RoK) this week will promote tourism in Vietnam, ahead of Hanoi's millennium celebrations later this year. The three-day festival in Tokyo begins on June 22, while the one in Seoul will run from Friday to Saturday, June 25-26.
"About 30 Vietnamese tourism businesses have signed up to take part in the festivals," said Nguyen Van Tinh, head of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Ministry's International Cooperation Department, which is organising the events.

Danang to organize beach festival to woo travelers
June 17, 2010
The central city of Danang will kick off a summer beach festival this week with a series of tourism and sea sport activities aimed at wooing more domestic travelers to the city in the summer travel season, an official said.
The festival, which lasts from this Saturday to June 27, will comprise aerobic performance, dragon boat racing, painting contest for children, bartender’s show, canoeing, parachuting, skiing, water skiing, and swimming contest among others.
