Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2011 attracts large crowds

Mr. Nguyen Dang Thanh, Deputy Chairman of the Ancient Capital of Hue has
reported that as many as 10,000 local and foreign visitors came to the
Hue Traditional Craft Festival 2011.
The festival’s theme “Vietnamese kitchen in Hue ornamental garden”
promoted Vietnamese food and ornamental plants at Ngo Mon Square in Dai
Noi Imperial Citadel and Huong Riverside in Hue City from April 30 to
May 3.
300 leading Vietnamese cooks presented popular dishes from the Northern, Central and Southern regions of Vietnam as well as many Hue ancient royal dishes.
The event also included an ornamental tree festival featuring more than 1,000 art works at the Ngo Mon Square, Phu Van Lau Park and Nguyen Dinh Chieu walking street. Many artisans of the Vietnam Ornamental Tree Association and ornamental tree clubs of cities and provinces nationwide including Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Ninh Binh, Hai Duong, Phu Tho, Thanh Hoa, Nam Dinh, Quang Ngai, Da Nang, Binh Duong, Ben Tre, Ho Chi Minh City and Thua Thien-Hue joined the show.
An exhibition of ancient cooking utensils was organized at the Lieu Quang culture center and Ta Vu House in Dai Noi.
There was a cooing contest for children, a photo exhibition and an environment walk.
Hue Traditional Craft Festival is organized every two years during the peak tourist season to attract local and foreign visitors to Hue.
More than 50,000 domestic and international tourists visited Hue during the national holidays.
